Annual Appeal 2012-2013
Dear Student, Alumi and Future Students,
Since 1960, Notre Dame High School has differentiated itself from other area high schools by offering more than an academic education. As graduates, you and I know that our experience was value-based: our Notre Dame years inspired us for a lifetime. Thousands of students benefitted from what I call the “Notre Dame Advantage”.
Today, Notre Dame continues to be a pillar of our community, producing students who go on to college with a strong academic foundation and who are prepared for a life of leadership and service to the community. This past year, Notre Dame graduates received over $5.1 million dollars in scholarships to highly competitive colleges.
2012 continues to be an eventful year with exciting new visions and plans in place. Notre Dame is GROWING!!! The 2012-2013 enrollment is up 8% from 331 to 354. As alumni, it is great to see and hear about these facts as we also had the experience of being a part of a strong academic foundation.
I am a 1998 graduate and have recently taken on a position in the Development Office here at Notre Dame. I am also the Girls’ Varsity Basketball coach and have been involved with coaching for the last 10 years. I have devoted my career to working at Notre Dame because I believe in Notre Dame schools and want to make sure that Notre Dame stays strong and that we still provide the highest quality education to our students. I know that graduating from Notre Dame was an advantage for me and I want to keep our school strong so that others may benefit as well.
Notre Dame’s annual appeal is essential in our mission to provide our students with the absolute best academic and extracurricular programs. Last year’s appeal was instrumental in assisting Notre Dame in maintaining a strong program as well as continuing to grow our Science and Technology departments. And, perhaps most importantly, this support provides tuition assistance for students and their families.
Angel Naw, a senior here at Notre Dame High School, was born in Thailand and moved to the United States with her family when she was seven years old. Angel views her education and opportunities at Notre Dame HS as a blessing. She stated that she does not know what her life would be like had she not enrolled at Notre Dame. But now she is ready to embark on a career in Nursing at either SUNY –IT or St. Elizabeth’s College of Nursing.
I am asking you to join me in a challenge to accomplish a goal to exceed last year’s appeal and reach $100,000. I know as alumni, we can do it and even exceed this goal. Your gift could help purchase new equipment for our Nanotechnology program, help purchase new uniforms for one of our sports teams, and could provide scholarship support for a child who could not otherwise afford Notre Dame. Remember what Notre Dame and Catholic education meant to you, and please make a personally significant gift to support the school’s future and help us reach our goal for this year’s appeal. We are who we are because of Notre Dame, and we need your participation to meet our financial goals!
I wish you the best and may God bless you!
Sincerely,
Michael J. Plonisch ‘98
